Observation on Nest-Site selection by Indian Giant Squirrel in Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary, Odisha

Abstract:

Indian Giant Squirrel (Ratufa indica) is a top canopy dwelling species. The nesting of this squirrel was observed in Karlapat WLS in Odisha. 80 km2 area out of 175 km2 was covered by walking transects. The species was found to select a particular tree height for nesting. Further the personal interviews were made to understand the threats to the species in the sanctuary area.
